What is Wind Power
With global warning taking over the hot topics of conversation in most media publications and TV channels, it is always worth exploring different ways to make energy. Generally, making and using energy is what creates global warming, to a point where the planet will not be able to survive in the long run if something is not done soon. There are lots of different eco-friendly ways to create power, including wind power. The question is; what is wind power and how efficient is it?
Wind power is essentially using the wind (a natural energy form) and converting it into energy that can be used into households.
By using a wind turbine and a mechanism inside, the rotor powers the mechanism, which makes and stores energy. Companies than then transform this energy into usable power in the form of electricity, which is what households need to survive.
Wind Power Facts
There are lots of wind power facts to take into account when deciding whether or not to use it. One of the facts that a lot of people focus on is that it is incredibly dependant on the whether. For instance, if there is only light wind, the chances of being able to produce power is extremely slim. Of course, in windier periods of the month, there is a chance to develop a lot of electricity without damaging the environment.
One of the wind power facts that many people might already know is that government funding is already in place throughout the world to try and develop the many wind farms. The government realize that the investment might not pay for itself instantly, but it certainly will pay for itself over time, which is always good, especially if it saves the environment.
Wind Power Pros and Cons
There are lots of wind power pros and cons to discuss before determining whether or not this is something that could be used in the long haul. Whilst the energy production process itself might not produce any emissions, think about what it takes to actually build wind turbines. Wind turbines can be extremely expensive and they might not actually represent a good return on investment, but one of the main advantages of wind power is that is saves the environment. Remember, the pros and cons of wind power both need to be taken into consideration to get the right end result.
Relying on mother nature for energy is something that we have done for years, but it does not seem that the advantages of wind power lie here. The fact of the matter is that wind power can only be created when there are high winds. This means finding hill sides that are not being used and filling them with hundreds of turbines. Obviously a lot of people are opposed to this because it ruins the landscape and the potential for energy production is not actually that great. On a different note, something like solar power (based on absorbing the light) is going to be much more effective.
